Kurdish Translation in High Court
A further case has resulted in Turkey
having to adjust its stance towards the Kurdish language.
Four Kurdish women aged from 63 to
77 faced trial before the State Security Court in Malatya on the accusation
of supporting the PKK.
Because they did not speak Turkish,
they defended themselves in Kurdish before the supreme court. The court
had no alternative other than to bring in two translators. (Source: Kurdish
